DAY 10:
Trek Machermo Gokyo

Gokyo is a small village of Lodges located along the shore of beautiful Dudh Pokhari (Gokyo Lake). As you ascend to Gokyo you will experience your first close-up views of the worlds highest peaks; Everest, Lhotse and Makalu rise before you.
Overnight mountain lodge (4750 m.).

DAY 11: Rest day at Gokyo
Enjoy the lake or day hike with your guide to several view points surrounding Gokyo. We will have an early dinner and retire early in preparation for tomorrow's early morning trek departure. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 12: Trek Gokyo Ri
It's a dark early get-up at 3 am to depart in darkness for a three-hour trek to Gokyo Ri (Gokyo Peak, 5340 m.) Dress warm for this adventure as we ascend to the highest elevation of our journey and the highlight of our trek. Weather permitting, we will have a fantastic photo opportunity as we watch the sun rise over Mount Everest and it's neighbor Lhotse. The views here equal those of Kala Patar with a bonus of a 360 degree vista. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 13: Trek Gokyo Phortse
A rewarding day of trekking. Descend along the east bank and high above the Dudhkoshi River to Phortse. The views of Khumbila mountain and the valley below are constantly spectacular. The sun stays on these slopes longer during the day creating a warmer descent. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 14: Trek Phortse DeBoche
Trek high above the Mirja Khola with wonderful views of Ama Dablam. Pass the scenic village of Pang Boche and on to De Boche. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 15: Trek DeBoche Namche Bazar
We'll start out day early and head for the famous Tenge Boche Monestary and cultural center, the most active monestary in the region. After our visit here we will descend rapidly to the Dhudkosi river far below and then on to Namche Bazar for an overnight and a real hot shower and maybe even a pizza. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 16: Trek Namche Bazar Lukla
A steep descent to Monjo takes most of the morning. After a leisurely lunch we will trek down the valley, through the villages of Phakding, Ghat and Cheplung to Lukla in time for dinner. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 17: Lukla Kathmandu
Early morning flight to Kathmandu. The "take-off" from Lukla is certain to energize you and remain with you for years to come. A long hot shower, resting, shopping, walking the city, the rest of the day is totally yours in Kathmandu. Overnight Hotel.

DAY 18: KTM Leisure Day
Do as you choose this day. We will provide opportunities for Tibetan carpet and Pashmina shopping along with a visit to the "Children of Kathmandu." But the choices are yours for this day of leisure. Dinner as a "crew" this day. Overnight Hotel.

DAY 19: Fly KTM Bangkok
Mid-day flight takes you to Bangkok. Overnight hotel and then on to the USA or your scheduled trip extension.
 
 
Mount Everest & The Solu-Khumba Valley
Arrival Day: Kathmandu (KTM)
Arrival in Kathmandu is generally just past noon. After meeting our Kathmandu crew we will head for the heart of this unique spiritual city where we will check in to the Kantipur Temple House. This unique hotel is a small, comfortable, secluded hotel built in the architectural style typical of an ethnic Newari Temple. This will be a welcome day of rest after a long journey. Overnight mid-range hotel.

DAY 2: Kathmandu (KTM – Tour City
Today we will have the opportunity to enjoy the city of Kathmandu. We start with a private guided tour of the historic ancient city of Baktapur. We will also get a taste of Tibetan culture at Bodnath monastery and then enjoy wandering through the tourist sector of Thamel. We'll have dinner as a "crew" in Kathmandu. Overnight mid-range hotel.

DAY 3: KTM Lukla Phak Ding
Fly Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla, at 2800 m. is the gateway to the Everest Region. From Lukla we will trek 3 hours through the Sherpa villages of Cheplung and Ghat to our campsite above the village of Phak Ding. Enjoy freshly-harvested boiled potatoes, ÒShakpaÓ (Sherpa Stew) and perhaps even a Tongba (fermented millet drink) for dinner. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAYS 4 & 5: Sherpa culture
On this day devoted to learning about Sherpa culture, we will spend this day visiting with local Sherpas. We will learn about Sherpa language, religion, education, agriculture and history by visiting monasteries, temples, farms, schools and villages throughout the valley. Overnight Sherpa farm.

DAY 6: Trek Phakding Namche Bazar
In the morning, we will embark on a 5-hour walk that will take us along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River until we end the day with a steep climb to Namche Bazar. Hot showers and a real bed highlight this trekking day. Overnight mountain lodge, (elev. 3440 m.).

DAY 7: Rest day at Namche Bazar
Begin this day with real coffee and a visit to the colorful Òpeoples marketÓ for some last-minute shopping in Namche Bazar. Then either rest for the afternoon or join your guide for a hike along the Bhoti Koshi river valley. Overnight mountain lodge.

DAY 8: Trek Namche Bazar Dole
An early start this day takes us upward steeply first to the village of Khumjung, the largest village in the Khumbu. Our first view of Mt. Everest, far in the distance, occurs just before entering Khumjung. The trail from Khumjung ascends constantly to the small ridge top village of Mong La. Descending to the Dhudkosi valley and then ascending to Dole will complete a long and tiring day. Overnight mountain lodge (4200m.).

DAY 9: Trek Dole Machermo
The trail to Machermo, a simple Sherpa Yak herders village with several lodges, is much shorter and has much less elevation gain than our ascent of the previous day. The views along the trail high above the river are spectacular this day. Overnight mountain lodge (4450m.).

  A NOTE REGARDING THE HIGH-ALTITUDE PORTION OF THIS TREK  
 
During the high-altitude portion of this trek, weather, trail conditions, health considerations and altitude acclimatization of group members may create the necessity for schedule changes. Those changes always involve a group discussion. Final decisions remain the responsibility of the group leader. Additionally, any member of the group may choose to opt-out of completing this portion of the trek. Personal safety is the most important consideration when trekking at higher altitudes. Alternate accommodations (guide provided) will gladly be made for any schedule changes required.
