Q: Do I
have to be in superb physical condition to trek?
A:
No. The trekking
days are sometimes strenuous, but they are not long
days. Going slowly, people in moderate physical
condition will be able to complete and enjoy trekking.
Those who are over-weight or have respiratory
difficulties or other physical limitations should
consult the trek leader and their physician before
making the decision whether a tour of this nature is an
appropriate choice. |

Q: Will
I have to carry a heavy pack?
A:
No. Porters and yaks
will be hired to carry all food, camping supplies and
personal belongings that you will not need with you
during that day’s trek. You will want to carry a day
pack with clothing layers for changing weather, your
camera, sunscreen, water and any other personal items
you will want for the hike. |

Q:
During the trek, where will I sleep?
A: For the Solu Khumbu trek we stay in
“Mountain Lodges.” In Sikkim during the days of
trekking, your "home" is a modern, well-kept, waterproof
tent. Upon arrival at camp, you will find your tent will
be set up and a thick sleeping pad inside for your
comfort. In the morning your wake-up will be a hot cup
of tea delivered to your tent and you’ll even find some
warm washing water in a bowl right outside the tent
door. It’s by far the most carefree camping you’ll ever
do! |

Q: What
will I eat on the trek?
A: The food is
surprisingly good for meals that are prepared on the
trail. Rice and potatoes provide the base to
replenish those calories you’ve walked off during the
day. And, unbeknownst to you, the cooks may have stopped
at a local village to buy fresh vegetables (where
available) to make a tasty meal. The cooks are well
trained and professional. You will be served a hot
breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day and afternoon tea
will be your hard-earned reward for reaching camp. |

Q: What
is the quality of the hotels where we will be staying?
A: While you will
not find the hotels luxurious, they are selected for
their friendly staff, cleanliness and comfort.
When traveling internationally, it is important
to enjoy your accommodations and experiences for the
charm they offer. Sometimes this is a fantastic lodge
owner, the view from the rooftop garden at sunrise or
the colorful fabrics that adorn your room. |
