Very Easy
Only a minimal fitness level is required on what is
essentially a sightseeing tour by and van and/or
motorized watercraft. Short walks between 20 minutes and
one hour occur on level terrain.

Easy
We may be walking on some uneven terrain with gentle
slopes and the trails are clearly marked and free of
obstacles. Walks and hikes are interspersed with
sightseeing and could be up to 4-6 km (3-4 mi.), with up
to 200-400m (600-1200') in elevation gain. There is
plenty of time to stop for pictures or take a break.

Moderate
Only basic skills are required. A “naturally fit and
healthy” or sporadic exerciser, with no health
complications, should be able to handle this fitness
level. Some experience with carrying a light backpack or
fanny pack for up to six hours is useful, but we will
not be attempting anything technical. There may be a
variation between flat terrain and some longer steep
slopes. Our walks may be up to 6-8 km (4-5 mi.), with up
to 500-760 m (1500-2200’) in elevation gain. Simply
stated this is a moderately-strenuous trail hike.

Challenging
More strenuous activity on some days, but nothing highly
technical. You must have at least a semi-regular
exercise routine and be capable of carrying a backpack
weighing up to 10 kg (22 lb.) to handle this fitness
level. You should be in good condition, with no health
complications. There may be some more constant inclines
and may include steep on-trail ascents. Good
conditioning and a strong mental attitude will be
important. Hikes may be up to 8-10 km ( 5-6 mi.), with
up to 800-1000m (2400-3300’) in elevation gain.
